Pacers-Celtics game Tuesday canceled after bombs

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Boston Celtics' home game against the Indiana Pacers scheduled for Tuesday night has been canceled because of the Boston Marathon bombings.

The NBA says Monday that the game will not be rescheduled.

The Celtics and Pacers already have clinched playoff berths and are locked into certain seedings in the Eastern Conference.

Two bombs exploded in the packed streets near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Celtics fell to the Nets 101-93

Williams had 29 points and 12 assists to lead the Brooklyn Nets to a 101-93 victory over the Celtics on Wednesday night.

Brook Lopez scored 21 points and Joe Johnson added 20 for Brooklyn, which won for the 12th time in 18 games overall and beat the Celtics for the third time in four meetings this season.

Williams went 10 for 10 from the free throw line.

With the victory, the Nets moved closer to wrapping up fourth place in the Eastern Conference and clinching home-court advantage in the first round. Brooklyn owns a 3 1/2-game edge over idle Chicago with four games left to play in the regular season.

Paul Pierce led Boston with 23 points, Jeff Green added 11 and Kevin Garnett had 11 points and eight rebounds in his second game back after missing the previous eight with an inflamed left ankle.

Boston coach Doc Rivers clearly saw a Nets team that was aggressive offensively, especially when his best defending guard, Avery Bradley, got in foul trouble.

The Celtics, who have dropped four of six, remained three games ahead of Milwaukee for the East's seventh playoff spot.

Celtics make playoffs hold on to beat Pistons

Jeff Green led the Celtics with 34 points, including a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left to snap Boston's two-minute scoring drought, and the Celtics clinched a playoff berth by beating the Detroit Pistons 98-93 on Wednesday night.

Paul Pierce and Brandon Bass scored 17 apiece for the Celtics, who had lost two in a row and seven of their previous nine. But the victory, coupled with Philadelphia's 88-83 loss to the Charlotte Bobcats, left Boston 8 1/2 games ahead of the 76ers with eight games to play.

Greg Monroe had 24 points and 17 rebounds and Rodney Stuckey scored 22 for the Pistons.

Pekovic Free throws beat the Celtics in Minnesota's 110-100 win

Avery Bradley scored 19 points for Boston, which was playing without Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. The Celtics, who started the day 2 1/2 games ahead of eight-seeded Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference playoff race, have lost seven of their last nine games.

Jeff Green had a quiet night with just 10 points and seven rebounds, while Jason Terry and Terrence Williams each scored 14 points for Boston, which was a step slow on the second night of a back-to-back.

Knicks rout Celtics 108-89 for eighth straight win

New York Knicks rout Celtics 108-89 Sunday night as Carmelo Anthony had 24 points and 10 rebounds.

The Knicks beat the Celtics for the second time this week and won the season series for the first time since 2003-04, when they also went 3-1 against Boston. New York climbed back into a tie with Indiana in the race for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, which would currently mean a playoff meeting with the Celtics.

Paul Pierce had a double-double 24 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists. Jeff Green led all scorers with 27 points on 10-14 FG. Avery Bradley shooting is in a slump, 2 points on 1-5 FG.

J.R. Smith lift the Knicks beat Celtics 100-85

 

J.R. Smith lit up the scoreboard with 32 Pts and grab 7 Rebs as the Knicks beat the Celtics 100-85.

Jeff Green had a double double performance as he scored 19 pts and grab 10 boards. This is the Celtics 5 straight loss and Knicks 5 straight wins. Boston is without Kevin Garnett and Courtney Lee both are injured.

Thunder grind out a win against Celtics 91-79

Kevin Durant had 23 points and 11 rebounds, Russell Westbrook scored 15 points and Thunder beat the Celtics 91-79 on Sunday to stretch their winning streak to five games.

Boston was able to slow the Thunder from their best-in-the-NBA scoring pace of 107 points per game, but Oklahoma City's lowest output since Jan. 13 was still enough to come out ahead in this one.

Paul Pierce had 20 points to lead Boston, which had its own run of five straight wins broken. Kevin Garnett chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Celtics finished at 38 percent shooting for the game with 19 turnovers.

Celtics top 76ers 109-101

PHILADELPHIA - Avery Bradley scored a season-high 22 points, and Paul Pierce had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Boston Celtics to a 109-101 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night. Kevin Garnett scored 18 points.

Celtics are now 12-4 since Rondo was lost due to ACL.

Jrue Holiday had 18 points and 10 assists for the Sixers, and Thaddeus Young had 19 points and 10 rebounds. Evan Turner scored 18 points.

Jordan Crawford scored 12 points and fellow reserve Jeff Green added 16 for the Cs.
